No Spelling Bee this week!
Since this is the last week of school before the holidays, I have decided to give you all break! There are no spelling words this week. However, please study ALL the spelling words that we have learned so far because there will be a fun game with them this week. Here is a song for the holidays, it is sung to the tune of ''5 Little Monkeys''.
Eight Little Reindeers
Eight little reindeers pulling Santa's sled,
one fell down and bumped his head.
The elves called Santa and Santa said,
'Can seven little reindeers pull my sled?'
Count down the same way (replacing 'eight' with 'seven' and so on) until you get to 'one' little reindeer.
One little reindeer puling Santa's sled,
he fell down and bumped his head.
The elves called Santa and Santa said,
'Call Rudolph!'

Spelling Poem #14: Data
This week we have a poem on graphing. We are learning how to collect data in Math and using that data to make graphs. We learnt how to make bar graphs and will soon learn another type of graph. Here is the poem this week:

Data
By J. Nadas
I’ve asked my friends a question
What’s your favourite game?
I’m doing a class survey
Let me write your name.
First I’ll do a tally
I’ll make a mark to show
How many kids like each game
And after that, I’ll know.
Then I’ll make a bar graph
A title, I’ll decide…
The axis looks like one big “L”
Numbers go up the left side.
Games are at the bottom
Hockey, tag and ball
Which game is the favourite?
Which bar will be so tall?

Letters to Santa!
We are starting to learn how to write friendly letters. Today we wrote a letter to Santa and we walked out to mail it! Thank you to everyone who gave me their home mailing address - look out for Santa's letter in the the mail in a few weeks (it's a long way to the North Pole and back!).
Tissue Box donations
Winter is on its way and there are many more runny noses. If we each donate a tissue box, then we will have tissues for our classroom and Ms. Jong can spend the money on other things in our classroom! Thank you to those who already donated some! We always welcome more donations! :)
