Planting for Spring!

Today Ms. Stephanie had a neat activity where we welcomed Spring by planting some grass seeds!  For this, we needed soil, grass seeds, cups, water, and sunlight.  We reviewed procedures and are hoping that our grass grows soon!  We have been watering it everyday and placed it near the window for some sunlight.

Happy March Break!

March Break is here!  There were lots of suggestions on my newsletter of places to go over March Break...some of them including the ROM, Ontario Science Centre, and the Public Library.  Remember to read and go on RAZ-kids!  Review your food groups as you are eating and see if you can spot any 2D or 3D shapes wherever you go!  Have a very fun and safe March Break and I can't wait to hear all your stories when we come back to school!

Visualizing

When reading, good readers need to visualize in their heads what they are reading.  The picture changes as you get more information from what you are reading.  Today we listened to a funny short description and drew our visualizations.

Here is the story:

I saw a man with a big big nose;
and spikey hair;
and long, long, toes.

He had bells on his fingers,
and bells on his feet,
and he went DING-A-LING,
up and down the street.

Here are some of our visualizations:

Pedestrian Safety

Since we learned that one way to save our environment is to walk to places more and drive less, today we talked about how to cross streets safely.  It is very important to look left and right and again to double check for coming cars.  It is the same when we are biking.  Everyone got some reflectors to hang either on their backpack or on their jackets.  This will help cars see you if you are walking.  Be safe everyone! :)
