Retelling Stories
Often times when we finish reading a book, we go ''DONE!" and go to another book. However, as good readers, we need to understand the story as well. We need to make sure that we are able to retell the stories that we read. Today we talked about how to retell a story. When retelling stories, we need to talk about the characters, the setting, the problem, solution, as well as the BME (beginning, middle, end). We heard the story, ''The 3 Little Pigs'', a story many of us know. Then, in groups, we practiced retelling. Here are our work below.

Happy Thanksgiving!
This week, we heard some books about Thanksgiving and made our own turkeys! Below are some turkeys that we made and we talked about what we are thankful for. This year, I am thankful that I get to stay with the boys and girls in my class! Just a reminder that tomorrow is a PA day and that Monday is Thanksgiving, so there is no school. Have a wonderful and restful long weekend everyone!

Patterning!
We are wrapping up our patterning and sorting unit in Math. There are patterns everywhere! Look for patterns in your house and next time you are out...and see if you can name them and find the pattern core! You can also sort everything and anything! You can sort the plates in your house into different groups, or even your toys and Lego. Have fun with patterns and sorting at home!
Here are some Thanksgiving patterns that we came up with.

Snuggle Up and Read!
Today the ''Snuggle Up and Read'' folders went home!! Boys and girls picked their first book that they want to read at home and wrote in their ''Reading Logs''. Please remember to write down the name of your book. Tomorrow, you may come back and switch the book to a new one when we do Agendas. Parents, please remember to sign AFTER your child has finished reading the book. Also, please also continue to read RAZ-Kids. It is very important to READ a lot in Grade 1!
Just a reminder that tomorrow is Day 1 and we have Library during our Computers period...if you want to borrow new library books, please remember to bring in last week's books!
